Visit to Utah: Part 2

I decided to split our trip to Utah into two parts because well, it felt like two trips. The first half was with my side and the second half was with Ian's. Here's the play by play:

Wednesday:
-pack up everything and get in the car (Ian had to chauffeur us since Dani was still terrified of being in the car)
-drive on the highway with all the windows down, hair whacking my face since the AC didn't work
-get to In-n-Out, sit on the great patio and try to get Dani to drink some water but all she wants to do is stare at the birds
-eat In-n-Out and realize it's not as good as we remembered and was VERY salty but obviously they put no salt on the fries. Come on!
-get a cup of ice for Dani to eat in the car and drive to Ian's grandparents for a nice visit
-head to Ian's family and reunite her with his family
-go to Costco with Ian's mom and have a grand old time exploring and realizing that we don't need a Costco membership
-hang with the family and start packing for the camping trip

Thursday:
-everyone goes to work so Ian works and we both pack/clean and go on a quick shopping trip
-I play with Dani lots and lots
-everyone comes home and we finish packing and get ready to go
-we drive for a few hours through the Uintahs and finally turn down a dirt road to the campground
-Dani pukes into the cupholders so we pull over. I do not puke on Dani even though I was grossed out. Dani-1 Car-0 Jill-1
-we make it to the campground, set up camp (hello RV camping-so easy!) and roast hot dogs to fill our bellies before bed

Friday:
-Dani gets up at 3 am and so does the whole Binks family except Carter who was exiled to sleep in the back of the suburban. Dani gets to pee, and so does Sampson (the Binks' dog) and we all fall back asleep until 8 or 9.
-We enjoy the day by taking some walks around the campground, reading, eating, and napping in the sun
-Olivia gets lost and Ian's dad eventually finds her
-we all go around to the reservoir and try to get Dani to copy Sampson and swim. She won't but it was great to watch!
-we do more eating, this time my favorite bacon wrapped chicken and pasta salad! Carter teaches us how to roast toaster strudels and I eat too many s'mores
-more sleeping and stargazing.

Saturday:
-we get up late again, this time Dani slept through the night.
-we eat and hike down below the dam
-we all regret it.
-Ian's mom falls and the sagebrush eats her. We sit and watch spiders while Ian's dad fishes and everyone else treks through the meandering creek. Sampson chases ducks and Dani cautiously follows.
-We head back and eat more delicious food. See a trend? Eating and camping are two great combinations. And we enjoy the rest of the night, trying to find some shooting stars

Sunday:
-we get up late, eat breakfast, and start packing up.
-we drive down the long dirt road and through Provo Canyon. We see some friends of the Rainbow Family and just wonder about them
-we get back to the house, unpack, clean ourselves up, and make sure the house is ready to host the Binks/Naylor gathering for Ian's mom's birthday celebration
-We go to Chilis to celebrate her birthday. Yum.
-We relax and wait for everyone to arrive. We chat and eat birthday cake and watch Olivia and Carter slackline in the backyard.
-The evening ends and everyone goes home.

Monday:
-Ian and I say goodbyes to the Binks and Ian's dad drives us to the airport. We are hoping that the anxiety meds from the vet kick in for Dani so we don't be "those people" at the airport.
-We make it through security and Dani pees in front of the SLC police kiosk while Ian puts his belt back on. I sing praises that Olivia let us take her flushable baby wipes and start cleaning it up and the police guy thanks us for cleaning it up and loves Dani (Dani-1 SLC Airport-0). Dani befriends 100 more people and we sit at the gate and try to keep Dani calm, and we notice the meds kicking in. I treat myself to Starbucks and bring ice back for Dani.
-We put Dani in her portable kennel, board the plane, and Dani sleeps the whole time. Dani-0 Airplane-1. Jill & Ian-10 Everyone else on the Plane: 150
-We get picked up by the Reeds and go home with our puppy!!
