I had no idea how this summer was going to go, and the first few weeks of it have far exceeded my expectations! However, I am still jobless, and don't really love that at all. I have done some fun things, and lots of cleaning and apartment contacting so far. There have been a lot of highlights in the past few weeks, and most of them involve being outside in the lovely sunshine.
Olivia and I went hiking a week or so ago, and wanted to find Old Ephraim's grave. Let me just tell you now that we were unsuccessful. There was a turn off for it, and we missed it, and kept walking on this beautiful trail through the mountains and meadows. On our way back, we found it, and couldn't believe we had both missed something so obvious.

Ian and I walked along the old Logan canal, which is now encased in cement, and found a really neat graffiti wall, which was the old power plant. It was a super easy walk, and I'd recommend it to anyone! Ian wants to go back and ride bikes along it.

Summerfest came and we love it! A whole bunch of artists come and showcase their work and there is no pressure for you to buy anything from them. It's fun to look at everything out there, especially when you can find some pretty bizarre stuff. We also love Summerfest because of the live music! It's just so nice to enjoy an evening outside with love music playing. And, we love crappy carnival food, so of course we splurged for some ribbon fries and some of the best kettlecorn I have ever tasted! My brother and sister also came up and hung out with us, so it was just a great evening.

Scott and I went hiking last week to Mt. Naomi Peak, and that was also quite an adventure. A cold front had blown in overnight, and it was a high of 70 for the day...and we were hiking higher and in the snow, so wearing shorts was very much regretted. We went along the trail, and ran into two people who said they lost the trail because of snow, but Scott and I kept going. We were hopeful, and there were lots of chipmunks to see. Scott did not love hiking up with the altitude so we took many breaks and didn't make fantastic time. We got to the spot where everyone was turning around, and ran into a man and his son sliding down snow. They told us where to go, we thanked them, and proceeded to hike upwards in the snow. We made it to the peak (almost) and realized we would have to get down, so we turned around and thought it would be a great idea to slide down on our butts. 30 seconds later, our fingers and bottom half of our bodies were numb and tingling, but it was a great adventure. We ended the hike, and headed to La Tormenta as a reward.

Last Saturday, we had the privilege of accompanying Scott through the Brigham City temple! It was so beautiful, and I have loved seeing the insides of various temples recently. Ian got to be Scott's escort, and it was fun to see him helping my brother. Afterwards, we took some pictures outside, and met Jen at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate the day. It was so great and I can't wait for Scott to be the stellar missionary he's going to be!

Yesterday, Olivia didn't have work, so we went to Porcupine Dam. Let me tell you, if you go on a Monday afternoon, there is next to nobody there. Really. We got in the water, which was warmer than we expected but still very cold to swim in, and swam across to the cliffs. In hindsight, we should have blown up the tubes we have and floated across. Oh well. We sat on the cliffs and warmed up. We watched a man across on the shores and debated if he was wearing a speedo or just hanging out on the shore naked...so that was entertaining and mostly disturbing. Olivia jumped in twice, and I went once, and we made the swim back so Olivia could shower before her second job. It is so fun to enjoy everything the valley has to offer this summer, and I am grateful for friends and family who keep me entertained and want to enjoy the summer as well!
