Waterfalls and Heavy Mist

We've been in Seattle for two weeks now! CRAZY! Time flies. I've had some interviews in the teaching field, so keep your fingers crossed there. In the mean time, I got a hostess position at a yummy local pizza chain called Zeek's, and I've been at it for a week. It's good, and works with my schedule. Also, it always smells delicious, yet I never come home smelling like pizza. Score.

Around job hunting, working, and Ian working from home, we've found time to explore! We've done a lot of walking around the area, explored a neat park with a sweet ravine, found the nearest grocery stores, and the church.

Today, we ventured out of the neighborhood and downtown area and headed to the edge of the Cascades to Wallace Falls State Park. We've been asking around and a couple in the ward recommended this sweet waterfall hike...so of course we put it on the list. Let me tell you now...hiking at 1000 ft is so much easier than hiking at 5000 ft. LOVE it. I do not love hiking in super humidity or clouds though. It's a trade-off, but not the best one. Anyway, we got the Discover Pass (gets you into all WA state parks!) and headed up. It was a beautiful drive and I love Snohomish County. We started the hike with electrical wires above us and super heavy mist weaving throughout the trees. It was so heavy we couldn't even see some of the waterfalls. It was a super neat trail which ran along the side of the Wallace River so we kept getting great lookout spots of the many waterfalls up and down it. Also, the area we were hiking through was foresty, everything was covered in moss, and there were ferns growing all over the place. Also, the rocks were dark and shiny (igneous of course) and it was so neat! We pretty much walked through all the scenes in Jurassic Park.
Supposed to be a viewpoint of the Cascades.
All the mist! So neat!
Jurassic Park and moss all over the tree branches and ground.
Haha really?
We felt so small. Also, scary movie setting?
There was a waterfall...but you can't see it.
Double waterfall! You can only see the close one though.
It was only 2.75 miles to the top and we made great time (thank you no elevation). We sat and ate some delicious strawberries and suddenly all the mist was gone and the sun was peeking through the dense forest! It was beautiful! It made the hike down a whole new experience because we could see everything this time. we loved the hike, and were so glad we started it so early (9:00 isn't too early) because we were constantly running into crowds of people on our descent.  We're excited to see more of what the surrounding areas has to offer (and miss being able to drive 15 minutes to the trailhead. We miss that A LOT.)

the waterfall at the top. SO beautiful!
Adventurers.
a huge waterfall, minus the mist.
