Family is Forever

After the family vacation, I had a day to run errands, and then Friday was here. Scott has made it a great habit to go hiking every Friday, and then treat ourselves to La Tormenta afterwards...so this past Friday was no exception. Too bad it was the last time before he answers the call to serve! However, I knew it would hit 100 degrees on Friday, so I made him come up earlier, and we started hiking the Crimson Trail around 9:15...when it was still too hot and sweat was pouring out of both of us. I had done the crimson trail during the fall, but during the summer, it is just as beautiful with wildflowers growing everywhere! We are pretty fast hikers (according to me) and we were back at the car in two hours, smelly, and ready for some not-so-healthy mexican food. Scott then headed home, and we cleaned up.
Oh the beasts,...

thank goodness for the forest and all the shade it provides!
I sure am going to miss this place!

Once Ian got home, we headed to Roy because all of my mom's side of the family came together one last time for my cousin Sara's beautiful wedding! Friday was the night before, we ate dinner and played a riveting game of kickball, where the bride-to-be was such a champ that she tweaked her ankle. Oops. Anyway, the wedding was Saturday afternoon at a beautiful nursery, and it was great to relax with all the family and celebrate Sara's special day.

Sunday, we all gathered together once again, because Scott gave his farewell talk, and Jen was the accompanying speaker. It was great to hear them both speak, and see how excited Scott is to leave! 9 days left for him! We headed back to Grandma's for an afternoon of eating again and hanging out. Ian and I headed back to Logan to just spend time together and enjoy a lazy Sunday, when our neighbor's house somehow caught on fire, and our street filled with firetrucks. We are so grateful we were safe and our house was not in danger, but feel so bad for our neighbors who lost so much in an unfortunate afternoon.

Well, the rest of the week is pretty much up in the air, with a test for my license in Washington, and lots of 4th of July celebrations!
