Spring Break #1: Disney Style

That's right. This is the first of our two (sort of) spring breaks. Hallelujah! Seriously though, totally need(ed) it.

The first spring break began mid march (USU's schedule), when we drove down to Salt Lake to meet up with Ian's family. Yep, it was a whole big Binks adventure. We took a suburban and drove through a crazy winter storm until we got to Anaheim.
so so funny. Olivia likes to be 3rd wheel.
Day 1: DISNEYLAND! We went on Sunday to see Fantasmic, and the whole day was indeed magically fantastic. We dominated the park and rode so many rides. We rode Matterhorn twice. We rode Indiana Jones AND I GOT TO SIT ON THE FRONT ROW! We rode Space Mountain and it is definitely one of my favorites. We watched a musical parade. We ate snacks and rode more rides. I learned Ian's family gets motion sickness so obviously that is no good at a theme park. Go figure. We went on the canoes, which are always closed so Ian was dying to go. I thought it was lame to canoe in a 3 foot lake dyed green with rude and sarcastic tour guides. Oh well. We then watched Fantasmic, which was great! The sweet ferry boat was closed, so at the end all the princesses showed up on the stage. It was different, but neat. The little boy watching in front of us loved Wendy. So much, it was cute.
Ian was the only one loving the canoes.
Day 2: Huntington Beach...in March...with only a 60 degree high. It was a bit chilly. I only got my toes in the ocean. Ian got in for about 5 minutes to boogie board, but he was done after that. Ivy put a wet suit on and tried to learn to surf with her dad, but they didn't do so hot. The wind was cold, but the sun was warm, and it was nice to relax on the beach. For lunch/dinner, Ian and I showed everyone the great and delicious Wahoo's tacos. We went there for our honeymoon and it was an amazing surprise! I got a shrimp taco and a pork taco and was loving life after that. YUM! We then ended our evening by heading to Downtown Disney to eat their delicious Beignets and do some window shopping.
my favorite picture from Huntington Beach. Goodness I love the sun.
Wahoo's Tacos!
Day 3: More Disney! We booked it to California Adventure to get fast passes for Radiator Springs and for World of Color. We rode the Tower of Terror. We rode Soarin. We walked through Cars Land and rode Radiator Springs after waiting a mere 10 minutes in the fast pass line. We rode Luigi's Flying Tires, which was fantastic because it was similar to bumper cars...but they hovered. Yes, you read correctly. Disney is so magical they bring hover cars (tires) to the lives of ordinary people. We rode Screaming and did the great Toy Story ride (we did it twice). Ian and I split from the group to get a delicious pizza and salad for lunch in a cafe in the bottom of the Grand Californian (such a good deal!). Ian was so happy he let me buy a hard chocolate ice cream shaped like Mickey. It was so yum! We went back to Disneyland and did more favorites there, and then we watched World of Color. It's wonderful, and I love that show so very much!
Ian and Carter on Radiator Springs!
crazy hair time. too bad we lost our race.
Overall, our trip with the Binks was amazing and such a splendid way to start out Utah State's spring break! It was so nice to leave icy Utah and go to the Sunshine state, where we could relax, have fun, and enjoy a break from the real world. We came back and I went to school, and Ian went to work.
