There once was a wizard...

Well hello there! It's been a while...but it's hard to blog in the middle of nowhere.
Double rainbow during staff training!
Life as a camp counselor for YMCA Camp Roger is very interesting. I'm in the two-match fire club. I dream with camp songs in the background all the time. I wake up and go to bed cold every night. I love meal time. I currently have TEN moose points, and am very proud of it. I introduce the Brits to marvels like wheat thins and milk duds.
Sabra and I were co's for two beautiful and fun weeks.
On another note, I am really having a good time, despite the homesickness and getting woken up at unearthly hours by children. It's fantastic to see these kids grow in a week's time, from not knowing anyone and not being confident, to kids who can shoot an arrow, ride horses, have been mountain biking, know how to orienteer, and are brave enough to perform a ridiculous skit on stage at the end of the week.
Did I mention how beautiful it is up there? It's beautiful.
There are tons of funny moments too, like the kid wearing mittens in the middle of the day asking if a piece of a dodgeball was dead ice cream (because ice cream can die...?), the kid who only eats orange food, playing psh in the bathroom during an intense thunderstorm, kids making up relationships between staff, the list goes on and on. Oh the things kids say...
Soapstone Basin. So amazingly gorgeous. Now there are wildflowers too!
Now, as for the weekends, those have been superb, perfect really. Other than worrying about the hassle of getting my car fixed and such that is. I went wedding dress shopping with Jessica and went to her bridal shower, got to go to my first Real Salt Lake game with Ian's family, and have done fun things with Jen already this weekend and have seen fireworks with Ian. I also have seen both of my grandmas (points for me). It's so nice to come down to civilization and see/talk to the people I miss. Did I mention the fireworks? Love them. Utah goes all out and has tons of firework shows, which is great. :)

  1. Sounds like an awesome summer!! But what is this "cold" you speak of? I am not familiar with that.
